Closing Out Work Requests

After a job is finished, the work request must be designated as complete so that the final design data can be posted to the master GIS database and accounting activities can proceed. Normally the As-Builts Complete command is used to close out a work request, but the specific procedure will depend on how the Workflow Manager's work request states and actions have been configured for a particular installation. If your company uses a work management system, the process may involve retrieving completed work requests from the WMS database.

Alternatively, the As-Builts Complete command on the Workflow Manager's default Actions menu can be used to manually indicate that all as-builts have been entered and that a work request is ready for closeout.

The As-Builts Complete action changes the state of a work request from In Construction to Complete. If the design for the work request has any features that are still incomplete, the As-Builts Complete action gives you two options: you can choose either (1) to mark all features as complete or (2) to delete all incomplete features. When you apply the As-Builts Complete command, Bentley OpenUtilities Designer also performs the following:

  • Deletes all work location annotations, comments, and design bounds in the GIS;
  • Performs a rollback in the GIS wherever the design was not implemented (i.e., any features specified in the design but not built are deleted or restored to their pre-design state);
  • Publishes the design (i.e., posts the final design data to the master GIS database); and
  • Deletes the design from the My Designs folder.
